Leading Lung Cancer Specialist in London
Qualifications and Expertise
I trained at the University of Oxford and the Royal Marsden, and hold a DPhil (PhD) from Oxford. I am a Member of the Royal College of Physicians, Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists and previously worked as a Consultant at University College London Hospitals, one of the UK’s top Cancer Centres.
I now focus exclusively on private practice, offering modern, evidence-based treatment options informed by the latest research and clinical guidelines.
Patient-Centric Care Approach
Lung cancer can feel frightening and uncertain. I take time to listen, explain, and support. You'll never feel rushed.
Many patients tell me that simply understanding their treatment options clearly brings them peace of mind. My aim is to help you feel informed, confident, and empowered at every step.
Lung cancer is a type of cancer that needs prompt treatment to eradicate cancer cells wherever they are in the body.
Understanding Lung Cancer
Types of Lung Cancer
There are two main types of cancer in the lungs: non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). NSCLC includes subtypes such as squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma.
I also treat patients with primary lung cancer, oligometastatic disease, and lung involvement from other malignancies such as blood cancer or skin cancer.
Symptoms of Lung Cancer
Common symptoms of lung cancer include:
-
Shortness of breath
-
Chest pain
-
Weight loss
-
Persistent cough
-
Fatigue or chest infections
Early symptoms can be subtle. Early detection is key to improving outcomes.
Advanced Diagnostic and Treatment Options
Diagnostic Tests
Fast diagnosis makes a difference. I can quickly arrange:
-
CT scans and chest X-rays
-
Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) to assess lymph nodes
-
Biopsies (e.g. CT-guided biopsy) to obtain lung tissue to make a diagnosis and guide treatment options
-
Blood tests and lung function assessments
I also collaborate with experienced respiratory consultants and cardiothoracic surgeons to ensure thorough evaluation. I can access the necessary respiratory medicine tests to get to a treatment plan quickly. Other conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) are not necessarily a barrier to effective treatment.
Cutting-Edge Treatments
Your treatment plan is tailored to your specific diagnosis and needs. Depending on the type and stage of cancer, options may include:
-
Stereotactic radiotherapy (SABR) for early-stage or inoperable tumours
-
Proton beam therapy for complex or centrally located tumours
-
Immunotherapy and targeted therapies for advanced or metastatic cases
All treatment is delivered using the latest technology and protocols for safety, precision, and effectiveness.
Multidisciplinary Team Approach
Your care is coordinated by a team of lung cancer specialists, including:
-
Clinical nurse specialists
-
Consultant Medical Oncologists
-
Consultant Respiratory Physicians
-
Consultant Thoracic Surgeon
-
Specialist radiologists, pathologists, and therapists
We review every case in multidisciplinary meetings to ensure the best possible outcome.
