I’m a clinical oncologist – an expert in caring for people who have cancer.
Growing up, I saw the care that my mum, who was a nurse, gave to our family and friends when they had cancer. This inspired me to become an oncologist. I witnessed first-hand examples of excellent care and communication from my family’s doctors – and also some things that I knew could be improved. Oncology appeals both to my passion for cutting-edge advancements in medicine and my deep desire to support people during their most challenging time.
Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming. You need somebody you can trust to guide you through the many investigations needed and get you to treatment as soon as possible. We’ll define your treatment plan together – whether our goal is cure, or to enhance the quality of your life. Please be assured that I can access any treatment of proven benefit for you to ensure you receive the best possible care.
Choosing the right oncologist for you is essential. I trained at the world’s leading universities and cancer centres – including the University of Oxford, The Royal Marsden Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital – and I am dedicated to providing attentive, friendly and reassuring care that is fully focused on your needs. Colleagues frequently refer patients with complex problems to me as they value my experience and expertise.
As I’m lucky enough to work in a number of prestigious central London private hospitals, we can choose together where you will be seen to get the best treatment for you started as quickly as possible.
One of the privileges of working with private patients is the space it provides to give you all the one-on-one attention your personal diagnosis requires and to support you throughout your treatment journey. Follow-up care will be tailored to your individual needs, ensuring that the effects of treatment are monitored for success while allowing you to continue living your life. My team of administrative and support staff ensure you can reach me and access the information or support you need quickly and efficiently. We will be seeing a lot of each other during treatment and afterwards – we’ll get to know each other well! It’s important to me that you know you can come to me with any questions or concerns at any time.
The most rewarding part of my work is seeing patients continue to make the most of everything that life has to offer. I aim to empower my patients so they can fully engage with their family, friends and whatever interests them. Life, after all, is for living. Speaking personally, I’m proud of my Northern roots but I make the most of all that’s happening in London. I’m an avid theatregoer. There isn’t a West End show that I haven’t seen – twice! I enjoy walking my dog, Barney, in the parks of central London in the vain hope of tiring him out.
Please get in touch to find out how we can work together to support you through your treatment and help you achieve the best possible outcomes for now and the future.
